PinkWhale Club

How to use the app

Quick start, step by step

Your privacy
  • Everything stays on your own device. Your dives, photos, settings and map marks are saved inside your phone or computer. We cannot see them, and there is no account or sign-up.
  • It works offline, on the boat too. Only the map pictures and the translation need internet.
  • Nothing leaves the device unless you send it. A backup file, a CSV, a printout or a correction to the club only goes where you choose to send it.
  • The flip side: if you clear your browser's site data, uninstall the app or lose the phone, the logbook goes with it. Keep a backup file (see General info and settings).

Install and updates

  • Install: see Get the app for iPhone, Android and computer. On iPhone, use Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Without that, Safari may clear stored data after a few weeks unused.
  • Updates: nothing to download. When there is a new version the app updates itself when you open it with internet. A small bar may ask you to tap Refresh.

Language, light and dark

Tap the round globe button in the bottom-left corner. Pick your language (automatic translation, internet needed) and choose Light, Dark or Auto for the look. You can also change the look in the logbook Settings.

⚙ Open settings

Settings

Choose units (metres or feet, bar or psi, and so on) and add your name and certification. Units apply to new dives.

Backup and restore

  • Back up: tap Save a backup (button below). On a phone it opens the share menu, so you can send the file to Google Drive, WhatsApp or your email. On a computer it downloads a file. The backup includes your dives, photos and settings.
  • Restore: tap Restore from backup and choose the file.
  • Moving to a new phone: 1) Save a backup and send the file to yourself. 2) On the new phone open pinkwhaleclub.com/logbook/, tap Restore from backup and choose the file. All dives, photos and settings come across.
  • How often: after every few new dives. The logbook shows a small reminder with the date of your last backup.

💾 Save a backup now Restore from backup

The buttons take you to the logbook and light up the right one. Tap it once.

Export and print

Use CSV for a spreadsheet and Print / PDF for a paper or PDF logbook. To choose which dives, tap Select dives and tick them, or use the search and filters first. With nothing selected they use the dives currently shown.

Map
  • Find a site: use the search box by name, country or type (wreck, wall, cave). Tap a pin to see its details.
  • Mark a site as dived: open the site and add your visit. Your sites turn pink and the counters at the top update.
  • Add a missing site: tap + Add a dive site. Your own sites show as red squares. You can send them to the club to be added for everyone.
  • Pin in the wrong place? Tap Move pins, zoom in and drag the pin to where it really is. Use Send to the club to share the correction, Undo my moves to go back, and Done when finished.
  • Your logbook on the map: sites you logged dives at show as dived automatically.
  • The map pictures need internet. Your own marks and notes do not.
Logbook
  • Add a dive: tap + New dive. Choose Scuba or Freediving at the top of the form. Start typing the dive site and pick it from the list, and the place and position fill themselves.
  • Scuba: max depth, dive time, gas mixes (Air, Nitrox, Trimix), configuration (single cylinder, twinset, sidemount, rebreather), suit, weight, conditions, buddy, notes and a photo.
  • Freediving: discipline, dive time (mm:ss), max depth, distance for dynamic dives, breath-hold and rest time.
  • Calculators: the form shows the gas MOD, ppO₂ at your max depth, and your surface air consumption (SAC) when you enter the tank pressures.
  • Look back: each dive is one short card with site, max depth, dive time, gas, configuration and photo. Tap a card to open the full log.
  • Search and filter: type in the search box, or filter by dive type, configuration or dive place. Clear filters resets them.
  • Change or copy: open a dive, then tap Edit or Copy as new (handy for repeat dives at the same site). Delete removes it for good, so keep a backup.
Media (photos and fish ID)
  • Dive photo: add one photo to each dive in the logbook. It shows on the dive card.
  • Photo album on the map: open a site you dived and add pictures. You can tag names on them.
  • Fish ID help: use the free outside tools linked in the album. Naming from a photo is a guess, so check it against a guide.
  • Backup: your photos are included in the backup file, so large albums make a larger file.
  • Only add photos you took, or have permission to use. Ask before sharing pictures of other people.
FAQ

Diving and courses

I've never dived. Can I try it? Yes! A Discover Scuba or Bubblemaker session is the easiest way to start. Small groups, hands-on attention, and you only need to be comfortable in water and in reasonably good health.

Which agencies do you teach with? PADI and SDI/TDI. Attila is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and an SDI instructor, so you can start a course, continue it or level up with either agency.

What courses and specialties are available? Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and Divemaster training, plus specialties such as Deep, Nitrox, Sidemount, Wreck, Solo diver, Drift and Photography, and Emergency Care (Adult and Child First Aid). See the Aquatic page.

I'm already certified. Can you guide me? Yes. Certified divers are welcome for guided dives and for refresher or skill-building sessions.

What should I bring? Swimwear, a towel, sun protection and your certification card if you have one. Bring a medical questionnaire answer or doctor's note if you have a medical condition. We will tell you what equipment is provided when you book.

Fear of water and special needs

I'm scared of water. Is diving for me? Possibly more than you think. We offer patient, step-by-step aquaphobia therapy sessions where you set the pace. Many people go from "face in the water" to their first breaths underwater. This is coaching and education, not medical treatment.

Do you work with kids? Yes, with kids programs and adaptive diving for kids and adults. Get in touch and tell us about your child, and we will find the right fit.

The Pinkwhale Club

What is the Pinkwhale Club? A community of divers and non-divers working towards a Love-Based Society: scuba education, ocean and rainforest protection, a planned eco-retreat and off-grid farm, and plenty of sea time.

Where are you based? Roatán, Honduras, and worldwide. Courses and dives happen wherever Attila is working. Phi Phi Island, Thailand, is one of our regular spots.

Where does the money go? Profits from merch go to the club's environmental and social projects. Art-Aid items give 100% of the profit to the artists. Donations to the retreat project are listed on the eco-farm page.

How can I help? Volunteer or donate to Sea Shepherd or PADI Project AWARE through our ocean page, support the rainforest, share the project, or support the retreat. You can also tell your friends.

What is HempNet? A community for hemp growers, builders and educators, started by the Pinkwhale Club. See HempNet EU.

Booking and contact

How do I book? Message us on WhatsApp or email using the buttons at the top of every page, tell us what you'd like to do and when, and we will reply with options.

Is there an app? Yes. The new free Pinkwhale Club app has an offline dive logbook, a world dive map with 300+ dive sites, a photo album with name tags and fish ID help, and booking on WhatsApp. See Get the app for how to install and use it.

Do you sell merch? Yes, T-shirts, hats and Art-Aid designs. Visit the store. Send us a photo wearing it!

Do you use affiliate links? Not at the moment. If we add any, we will say so clearly on the page.

The Pinkwhale Club app

How do I install it? Open pinkwhaleclub.com/app on your phone and tap Install the app. On Android use Chrome or Brave (menu, then Install app). On iPhone use Safari (Share, then Add to Home Screen). It is not in the Play Store or App Store, and it updates by itself.

Does it cost anything? Do I need an account? No. It is free and there is no sign-up.

Does it work offline? The logbook works offline, for example on a boat. The map pictures and the free fish ID tools need internet.

Where is my data? Can you see my logbook and photos? Everything you save (dives, sites, photos) stays on your own phone. It is not uploaded to our servers and we cannot see it. See the privacy policy.

What if I change phone or lose it? Use Back up in the logbook and on the map to save a file, and send it to yourself. On the new phone, install the app and tap Restore. Without a backup, a lost phone means lost data, so back up now and then. Nothing syncs automatically between devices.

Can other people see my photos or correct the names? No. Your album is private to you.

How accurate is the fish ID help? It uses free outside tools (Seek, iNaturalist, Google Lens) that guess from your photo. They may not be 100% accurate, especially underwater. Check names against a guide or ask an instructor.

How accurate are the dive sites? The list is a starting point from public sources. Positions are often approximate, and depths, seasons and rules change. Use it for inspiration, not navigation, and get a local briefing before you dive. Tell us about mistakes or missing sites.

Can I use it on a computer or tablet? Yes. It works in any browser. Data stays in the browser on that device, so use Back up and Restore to move it.
