Tenerife, a Gem Of The Canary Islands

by pinkwhaleclub

Tenerife is one of the most unusual and unique vacation spots in the world!

It’s a beautiful island with a lot to offer, the climate, the people, and even the food are all interesting aspects of Tenerife. On top of that, it’s also a popular tourist destination so if you are looking for someplace new to visit this year this might be it!

The island has a diverse landscape that offers something different for everyone who visits.

I want to tell you that the first time I saw Tenerife from the Huelva Ferry, after almost 2 days of travel, I regretted having started this journey.

I don’t know, I think it was the dark color of the sand or the night blue sea or maybe the clouds on the mountain tops. It was just that, a strange feeling, uncertain and disappointed.

Then we got off the ferry with our faithful friend, our 20-year-old Corsa, and I began to fall in love with the island. The music that was heard in the streets reminded me of Puerto Rico, Guatemala, and Venezuela!

Suddenly, I felt welcomed with open arms, an island that has it all, from its ravines and caves to cliffs and laurel forest. What to say about the wonderful climate of 20 -25 degrees all year round, the native food is really simple and tasty but what I want to highlight is the kindness with which “the Guanche” receives you. It’s something you’re not used to in the rest of the world anymore.

I could write an eternal list, but I prefer to leave you with the intrigue and find out on your own, either through videos or if you decide, give yourself this experience.

Tenerife has something to offer everyone. It’s no wonder why it is one of the most popular destinations in Europe!

Here are some of the best attractions in Tenerife just to begin:

Teide National Park

Mount Teide is the highest volcano in Spain /at 3714m/  and is located in the middle of the island. It is part of the chain across the Canary Islands and it is considered one of the most active volcanos in Spain. El Teide is a stratovolcano-meaning that its structure consists of numerous layers of hardened lava and ash deposits. (shield volcanoes) These types of volcanoes tend NOT to erupt violently like others, rather oozing out viscous magma over large periods of time.

Garachico

Garachico is a town in Tenerife. It is located in the south of the island, on the slopes of the Teide volcano. The town’s name derives from “Garaxicu” which means “red water” in Tenerife’s native Taíno language and refers to its location near a river that flows over volcanic lava rocks giving it a red color. Garachico has been inhabited since 1494 but was officially founded on 20 February 1554 by Alonso Fernández de Lugo who ordered its construction as part of efforts to repopulate the Canary Islands after their conquest from Morocco.

The municipality covers an area of 122 km² and has 4100 inhabitants. Its capital is also called Garachico.

El Medano

Medano Beach with TommytripsTenerife

El Medano is a beach located in the municipality of Adeje in the south of Tenerife. it’s a popular location worldwide for surfing! This beach has numerous facilities including restaurants bars and shops where you can find everything you need during your trip.

Near El Medano Beach on Playa, the Duque is also a great destination for families because it has all kinds of water sports available such as pedal boats or jet ski rentals, as well as other attractions like Aqua Park, where children can play with toys while parents relax nearby.

Los Amigos Park complex which includes playgrounds and mini-golf courses,

Aventura water park with slides and  great pools

Playa de Las Americas

Playa De Las Americas is the most popular tourist destination in Tenerife for a really good reason.  There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars to keep you entertained. Whether you are looking for a drink or a meal in the evening or something more relaxed like a walk on the promenade at sunset, Playa de Las Americas has everything you need plus it’s a great sport for swimming, surfing or other watersports too.

On the north side of the island, we can find Puerto de la Cruz with a wonderful botanical garden, insane forest trails, and hikes that have their own microclimate.

There is a lot to see and do here other than what I mentioned above. Scuba diving, quad tours, or stargazing tours on the volcano, sailing boat trips or rental You are a fan, helicopter flight, paragliding or parachuting…  I can’t put it in one post but it’s definitely worth trying.

The truth is that I am really very happy that I did not pay attention to that first impression, since much of what I felt was more a reflection of my state of mind, of wanting to accommodate my expectations with reality, instead of flowing with what the Universe chose for my own experience. I feel that this volcanic island, with its imposing Teide that has followed me to La Gomera, embraces me, teaches me, and shows me everything I feel so that I work in my best version.

Now I just want to say that a new chapter has opened in my life and for some mysterious reason, this island has called me.

So here I will stay until I have learned what I have to do to continue my evolution.

With much love, respect and understanding, I say goodbye, for now…until we meet again.
